In order to accompany the dynamic enhanced by the Halieutis strategy for the fisheries sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries has decided to provide Morocco with an international show dedicated to fisheries trades. The first edition of this show, called “Halieutis”, was held in Agadir from 26 to 29 January 2011 under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his effective presence. Still under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the second and third and fourth and fifth editions of the Salon Halieutis took place respectively from February 11 to 17, 2013 and from February 18 to 22, 2015, and from February 15 to 19, 2017 and from February 20 to 24, 2019.
This international event is the most important in Morocco and the region to be dedicated to trades of marine fisheries, aquaculture and sea products value adding. It comes in a conjuncture marked by the implementation of an ambitious strategy that aims an integrated development of the Moroccan fisheries sector up to 2020. This strategy is based on three axes: sustainability, competitiveness and performance.
Each edition is an opportunity to discuss major issues through a program of scientific lectures animated by eminent Moroccan and foreign participants.
The last two days of the show are open to the public, including the animation pavilion which allows both young and less young to learn about the Moroccan fishing heritage.
