Five major fish categories

Moroccan fisheries resource is characterized by the wide variety of species:
  • Pelagic fish which include: sardines, anchovies, mackerel, horse mackerel, swordfish and tuna species;
  • White fish that  include: hake, cod fish,  bass, John Dory, flounder , bream, sea robin, sea raven, monkfish;
  • Cephalopods such as: octopus, squid and cuttlefish
  • The Crustaceans which include: shrimps, spiny lobster, clawed lobster,
  •  The shellfish (clams, knife, nail ...), algae (including agar) and echinoderms (including sea urchins)
